Just my imagination
If you could talk to a favorite character in a book, what would you say? Just my imagination is a weekly blog that gives small glimpses into the world of Andrea Johnson’s books, and the characters that make her words come to life. Just my imagination posts can be seen every Friday, showcasing new characters and their turbulent thoughts, from questions posed by the author.
Character: Courtney. Book: The Embryos
Character role: A young woman who is enslaved to a place that has taken everything from her.
Question from the author: If you knew then, what you know now, what would you have done differently?
Courtney: Even if I knew the truth then, it would never have stopped my parents from coming here. This place is like a drug. It draws in the foolish and the vulnerable.
People that hide their disease like a dangerous plague. I may not have been able to stop my family from coming here… but I would have fought sooner.
Maybe had I become then, what I am now, they never would’ve been taken. If I had stood up and become the warrior that I always tried to ignore, maybe they’re screams would not be a living nightmare that will haunt me for the rest of my days.
